Zara Hoodie + Mesh Cutout Leggings & How to be on trend

Streetwear, cool girl, that Rihanna style is what’s up. It’s a trend I know & it’s current, and people hate the word “trend” but why? Why do people hate trends so much?  I keep up with what the trends are and I have them in the back of my mind when I’m shopping. I don’t ever want to end up chasing the trends, because it’s a race you can’t win. You can set trends, but always being right on top of every trend is tiring, and exhausting. BUT Don’t let that deter you, you can be on trend, without being trendy.

I was always running out to the mall to buy the new thing, the shiny red car that has caught everyone’s eye and I was good at it.  I remember when the high heel timberland boot came out. It was back when I thought as long as you had it in a cool color and a matching outfit you were killing it. So I did not want the infamous wheat colored boot I wanted a funky color that no other girls had. I did the most in depth research on line, on ebay, and at the mall to find the shoes in this beautiful red/ burgundy in my size, and then did the most to find a matching shirt to fit my personal style, so it didn’t look like I went to Rainbow. Wanna know something? After all that I wore those shoes twice. 2X. Following trends can be expensive, but being on trend in the right areas can save you money, and be inexpensive.

The easiest way to be on trend?

DON’T TRY AND TREND OUT YOUR CLOSET

I only buy KEY items in my closet twice a year maybe three times, and I try really really hard to do so when there is a sale.  If you have purchased the anchor items correctly, you don’t have to update them when the trends shift.

DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS

Accessories are generally inexpensive to update. Add on trend to your basic items and you can transform a dated look to an on trend look in 30 seconds flat.

EASIEST THING TO BUY ON TREND

Shoes.  Much like accessories they can instantly take your outfit out of the dated file and into the on trend. Don’t buy shoes that are overly trendy though. Keep it simple, but remember the devil is in the details.
