Velvet Jumpsuit & Denim Jacket
If you’re wondering if I’m going to hit you guys with lemonade puns. I’m not. #pinkypromise.
I spotted this jumpsuit on Zara’s website in like July/August and I was immediately obsessed with it. OB. SESSED. It was on trend in terms of the texture for Fall/Winter this year and who jumpsuits are never not lit. So I fell into Fashion Victim mode almost immediately. I politely placed it into my cart and continued to be ridiculous on Zara’s site. I’m gonna take you through that next hour. I do wanna give you this preface though. My closet already has its foundation. I’m already build.
1. Allow yourself to go crazy and then edit later – The way I like to shop is to literally pick up everything that catches my eye and look it over, imagine how it will mesh with my closet and how I will wear it.
2. Edit based on fit first - Next of course I see if it’s in my size. I look into the fit. Material is important here, because some fabric will give you wiggle room. Also on the other side the “bones” of a piece can be meant to make sure the garment holds its shape. Those “bones” can be restrictive and affect the fit. So I pay attention to all that. Make sure you’re reading the description when shopping online.
3. Then move on to cost per wear - This s the tricky part, because your mind can trick you here. I know you’ve been there when you convinced yourself you were gonna wear this with * Name of item you haven’t purchased yet, name of item you plan on buying, name of item you never wear, name of item that doesn’t fit* Resist this type of buy at all cost.
4. Allow yourself to indulge, but not every time. – Sometimes in the end even after these “edits” you still want to find a reason to have this item. I will not discourage you. It happens. Life wouldn’t’ be fun without that velvet wide leg jumpsuit would it?
